PRESS UPDATE: (not so) Exceptional SC Failing

Published

on

Finally … the mainstream press is catching on to the failures of (not so) Exceptional SC. The traditional press in SC has never been a friend of this program … they generally oppose any kind of “school choice” related measures … so it was no surprise they were ignoring the MASSIVE FAILURES of (not so) Exceptional SC & #FireChadConnelly!!!

We still do not think they are a friend to the program … but it has not gotten so bad they can’t ignore it anymore. CHANGE HAS TO HAPPEN … AND EVERYBODY GETS THAT NOW!!!

The article misses a few points that we emphasized with the reporter … namely that SC is the NATION’S ONLY government run K-12 tax credit scholarship program … and why it is failing is the unconstitutional issues with not having INDEPENDENT NON-PROFITS (like every other state) … but the article is a step in the right direction in exposing this debacle.

FireChadConnelly of course still blames the IRS for their failures … and he claims other states are geared to “corporate donors” … but we have pointed out to the reporter that 90% of GEORGIA DONATIONS came from INDIVIDUAL DONORS … and only 10% from corporations.

More smoke & mirrors from #FireChadConnelly.

To prove the point … here are the 2019 results from Georgia’s largest independent non-profit:

CLAIMS $2 MILLION RAISED IN 2020??? Well last week (3/4) Chad Connelly claimed in a sworn affidavit that they had raised $1.045 MILLION in donations (over the past 21 days) … this week it is $2 MILLION … at least that is what #FireChadConnelly told reporters.

Anybody believing that??? We don’t and we have asked the reporter to “fact check” that with the SC Department of Revenue.

If that was true … and sadly it would be good news if they had raised that much (even though Georgia raised $81.8 MILLION in just the first 7 days of 2020) … why would DOR not report that number???

Our bet is it is just potential pledges … not real donations … but we shall see.

In any case … if (not so) Exceptional SC has $2 MILLION in the bank … why have they not distributed scholarships this semester?

We hope they do have $2 MILLION in the bank and can start distributing scholarships … but we are not hopeful given the history of #FireChadConnelly … and him being called a “Compulsive Liar” …

And we don’t have much faith in Board Chairman Tom Persons … who told us on early January 16th, 2020, that they were “close” when asked how they were doing in reaching the $12 million cap in 2019.

More to come … stay tuned …

June Fundraising – It’s Getting Worse!!!

Published

on

The SC Department Of Revenue has responded to a FOIA request with the fundraising update for the month of June. (not so) Exceptional SC & #FireChadConnelly raised only $64,626.82 in the month of June.

Friends … as we have been predicting and warning everyone … things ARE NOT looking good for the fall semester. The school is starting in about a month … and (not so) Exceptional SC raised $704,293.76 SINCE JANUARY, and as you can tell, things are getting WORSE!!! While our neighbors in GA with a similar income tax credit program raised $81.8 MILLION by January 7th – YES – in ONLY 7 DAYS!!!

How is (not so) Exceptional SC planning on funding the scholarships in the fall with almost non-existent fundraising? You deserve to know … you deserve the opportunity to plan ahead … you deserve answers!

Coming: Charleston Public Charter Dyslexia School!!!

Published

on

Exciting news for our Lowcountry Families!!! Gates School – Charleston’s first public charter school for students with dyslexia and related reading challenges is opening in August 2021!!!!

If you are interested, fill out a “new parent interest form” by clicking the link below:

Although this is a wonderful news and option for our families living around Charleston this is not going to be the solution to the lack of funding from (not so) Exceptional SC. Not every child with dyslexia from the area will be able to get into the school … and not that this one school will be the best fit for every family.

The purpose of this program is for the families and children to have OPTIONS to receive the education that best fits their needs … be that public, private, homeschooling or a free specialty charter school like Gates …  and #FireChadConnelly & #RemoveTomPersons‘ responsibility is to provide funding for the private school options. If they are not fulfilling that responsibility … what is their purpose???
