Huge Victory … ZERO Application Fee!!!

Published

on

After weeks and weeks of us calling out #FireChadConnelly & (not so) Exceptional SC’s  insane announcement about a $60 Application Fee … literally the worst idea ever … last week they sent out an email announcing that there will NOT be an application fee!!!

YESSSS! This is a huge victory for our families!

QUESTION IS … “Who” at Exceptional SC thought this $60 fee was a good idea in the first place?!?!?!

YOUR CALLS MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!!:  Let’s use this as an example that when we stand up for what is right … we win!!!

Yes, MANY of you contacted your legislators … and complained about the whole situation … including the application fee idea. Do you think #FireChadConnelly would have changed his mind if it was not for the pressure he got from YOU (and legislators)? We don’t think so!

Keep the pressure on … keep calling your legislators … keep sharing your stories and how this recent lack of funding has affected your family and your school.

NOW: Application Window OPENS July 1 @ Noon!!!:  Yep … Nobody bought the claim that the online application window was delayed from May 1st, to July 1st because of COVID-19.  But, whatever … the good news is that the the Application Window OPENS Wednesday, July 1st @ NOON!!!

Everyone has a FULL TWO MONTHS to apply as the Application Window does not close until August 31st @ 5PM!!!  (However … the BAD NEWS … if applications don’t close until August 31st … when are they going to announce / fund scholarships???)

NO RUSH …NOT First Come / First Served!!!

We will be providing more information on Wednesday … but get ready to … APPLY, APPLY, APPLY!!!

WARNING:  Be cautious though  … and plan accordingly! Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.  If you believe as we do that the past results are an indication of what we should be expecting in the future … the funding most likely will be extremely limited.

But … at least it doesn’t cost you anything to apply!!!

June Fundraising – It’s Getting Worse!!!

Published

on

The SC Department Of Revenue has responded to a FOIA request with the fundraising update for the month of June. (not so) Exceptional SC & #FireChadConnelly raised only $64,626.82 in the month of June.

Friends … as we have been predicting and warning everyone … things ARE NOT looking good for the fall semester. The school is starting in about a month … and (not so) Exceptional SC raised $704,293.76 SINCE JANUARY, and as you can tell, things are getting WORSE!!! While our neighbors in GA with a similar income tax credit program raised $81.8 MILLION by January 7th – YES – in ONLY 7 DAYS!!!

How is (not so) Exceptional SC planning on funding the scholarships in the fall with almost non-existent fundraising? You deserve to know … you deserve the opportunity to plan ahead … you deserve answers!

Call / email and ask: administrator@exceptionalsc.org, 803-602-4398 (administrator), Chad Connelly – Exceptional SC Executive Director – 803-924-4596, chad@exceptionalSC.org, Tom Persons – Exceptional SC Board Chair – 803-261-0348, tepsr@att.net   tep@sctech.org

Coming: Charleston Public Charter Dyslexia School!!!

Published

on

Exciting news for our Lowcountry Families!!! Gates School – Charleston’s first public charter school for students with dyslexia and related reading challenges is opening in August 2021!!!!

If you are interested, fill out a “new parent interest form” by clicking the link below:

Although this is a wonderful news and option for our families living around Charleston this is not going to be the solution to the lack of funding from (not so) Exceptional SC. Not every child with dyslexia from the area will be able to get into the school … and not that this one school will be the best fit for every family.

The purpose of this program is for the families and children to have OPTIONS to receive the education that best fits their needs … be that public, private, homeschooling or a free specialty charter school like Gates …  and #FireChadConnelly & #RemoveTomPersons‘ responsibility is to provide funding for the private school options. If they are not fulfilling that responsibility … what is their purpose???
